I had a website devoted to trip reports concerning a company which has a long history of fraud and theft. It's in a tiny Pacific nation, making legal recourse against the owner challenging and expensive. I created the website to warn potential customers of what they might face, since the company's website was long on disinformation and short on truth. The owner of the company obtained a court order against me in his nation's courts. He sent this to my US web hosting company (GoDaddy) who promptly seized my site and domain, despite them having no operations, facilities, or staff in that country. Other than spending yet more money on a lawyer and obtaining a US court order upholding my first amendment rights (I am already out $8k from the trip), I could have one of the other victims put a new site in their name, but the cycle is likely to repeat. Can anyone recommend a web hosting service which is likely to ignore a court order from a tiny 3rd world country?

Open Question: what is a .name domain?

I can understand what it implies, but when I go to register it assuming my name is bobby gumdrop would I register www.bobby.gumdrop? I'm using 1&1 and am interested in knowing how the .name works .name is different. Its states .name wikipedia uses john.doe, but when I go to register it, I can't type it in that way. Is this done after the registration?

So my pal is starting up a business and he asked me to make a website for him, so i have. He payed for the domain and now we can upload the website on the internet. He payed at uk2.net and we can upload website at cPanel but when i add the html files on to cPanel and i try opening the wesite online every it says is This Domain Name has been registered by a customer of UK2, Can anyone help me fix it ? Open Question: Different nameserver in one domain?

How to make our email and website work while both services have different name servers to be able to use? Here's the problem..we have a domain hosted on domain.com..in that domain we have also have Email Service hosted there (just email no web hosting)..to be able to use that email service we need to change the nameservers in our domain to "nx1.ourdomain.com" ... but now we have a website not hosted from that company and i need to URL forward our domain to that website..but to be able to use the URL forwarding service we need to change the nameservers to default..but if we changethe nameservers to default our email will not work since it's using different nameservers.. so how i can use both of our email and website together without another buying web hosting to the same company that we have..is there other options??

Open Question: how do i setup intranet domain name.?

so far i was able to set my computer as web server and can access it at 192.168.0.101, local ip, but even though i configure my linksys router to transfer 80 port request to my ip address, itsnt. So if i write i.e. 209.546.19.120 it wont go redirect to 192.168.0.101 instead nothing turns up. Anways what i am trying to do is that is somehow if go to my laptop and write myname.com then the content on 192.168.0.101 shows up. I know i need to register a domain name but thats only for domains that i want to become available to whole world and thats not what im trying to do, i want to make myname.com to be just accessible to local area network. I know it can be done,, just dont know how. I have vista. I pretty sure i need to configure router with dns etc. can anyone explain it to me how. I got linksys router.

I have a free hosting account with godaddy but they have advertising on there which cannot be removed so I want to host my possess website with windows built in iis on my computer. I am trying to point my domain name to my server, so I went to cmd>ipconfig and took the 2 ip addresses that I had and tried the both but neither work. Their support team tell me that it is a generic router ip address and that I need my server address so where do I find my server ip address? OK, this is only temporary (maybe 2 months). But for now I need to set up a mail server without a domain name for local only communication (I have no intention of using email to contact others or for them to contact me). It will need to hold 17 accounts (17 people). What OS should I use? How do I set it up? What other software is required? Is it possible to have web access (via LAN on the server)? I ask this because I am still training and learning and at the moment I am unable to receive a domain name for about 2-3 months. Eg. Open Question: Is it possible to find out internet browsing history from a source other than a P.C. ie router or ISP?

I run my possess company where I employ a number of staff, although the business itself is not internet based there is a need for staff to access the internet on a regular basis, usually using one of the 4 computers based on site or via their possess personal laptops over the wifi connection. It has recently arrive to my attention that staff have been using this facility for non work activities such as social networking downloading music and conducting research of a personal nature online. After trying to view the browsing history on the works computers I have found that it is often blank from being purposely deleted on a regular basis. I was wondering is it possible to view browsing history another way such as information stored on the router itself or directly from the ISP, either by logging in somewhere or contacting them by email or phone. If not would it be possible to install some software or hardware on the system to allow me to monitor and record every information (domain names file types ect...) being received, viewed and downloaded.

Open Question: Which are the best e-mail accounts for a small business?

I've been using hotmail from about 8 years! But I decided to switch to yahoo since hotmail keep blocking many important emails,for example, emails sent from my website's contact form, even when I saved the emails as "safe sender" I'm sick of this since I use this email for my business. it doesn't have many settings, so I'm unable to manually change this. It will automatically block some emails, even when I added my website email as safe! hotmail is great but for personal use, not for business purposes :( so I switched to yahoo, thinking it will be BETTER, but I was wrong! The search function doesn't work! gosh!! it will only find SOME Emails using words you wrote in the subject etc, but it won't find any email if you search by the sender's email id, for example: 123@yahoo.com Now the thing is that I tried to create an account on Gmail using my domain name but the user name is in unavailable since somebody is using it already! so I tried adding a dot (.) within the domain , for example 123.abc@gmail.com and is unavailable as well!! GRR!! I'm trying to find a GOOD email for my business, hopefully that will: Easily find messages by searching e-mails sender,name, id ( ebay, amazon etc). That won't block ANY email but instead let ME do it manually Easy at attaching files. and that it's FREE! I don't have a big company, just a tiny business so I'm unable to do a monthly payment for an email account. any suggestion? Thanks in advance! :)
